Armageddon In Our Time?

Professor Sidra DeKoven Ezrahi, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Thirty-seven acres of “real estate” in Jerusalem, encompassing the Temple Mount and Al Aqsa, are the epicenter of the intensifying religious war between Jews and Muslims that has evolved from political strife. Based on her recently published book, Figuring Jerusalem: Politics and Poetics in the Sacred Center, Sidra DeKoven Ezrahi will share some thoughts on the current bloodbath unfolding in Israel/Palestine. She will offer readings of biblical and other classical Jewish texts that expose the misreadings of Israeli fundamentalists—who threaten, along with their Muslim counterparts, to engulf their country in the worst religious impasse since the Second Temple was destroyed over 2000 years ago.
