Dr. Erin Kathleen Rowe is the Vice Dean for Undergraduate Education and Associate Professor in the Department of history. After receiving her PhD at JHU in early modern Spain and religious culture, she taught at the University of Oregon and the University of Virginia before returning to JHU as a faculty member. Dr. Rowe is the author of two monographs, Saint and Nation: Santiago, Teresa of Avila, and Plural Identities in Early Modern Spain (2011); and Black Saints in Early Modern Global Catholicism (2019), as well as an edited collection and numerous articles and book chapters. She is currently working on several projects, including the history of the Sacred Heart, early modern European sacred histories of Ethiopia, and the intersection of the Atlantic and Mediterranean slave trades.
