Susan has over 45 years' experience as a professional actor, beginning here in Baltimore at the School for the Arts. She has been nominated for (and won) several Helen Hayes Awards in the past 10 years. Regionally, she has performed at the Mark Taper Forum, The Road Theatre, Kansas City Rep, The American Repertory Theatre, Arena Stage, Baltimore Center Stage, Ford's Theatre, and many others. On film and TV, her credits include NYPD Blue, four seasons on The Wire as ASA Ilene Nathan, House of Cards, We Own This City, and John Waters' A Dirty Shame. She holds a BFA from Boston University and Teaching and Education advanced degrees from Western Washington University and Goucher College. She has trained as a director at The Studio Conservatory under founder Joy Zinoman. Her interest in Theatre/Actor education is firmly rooted in interdisciplinary work, current best practices, and neurodevelopment. She loves teaching!
