Teaching Fellows

The University Writing Program (UWP) invites recent JHU PhD graduates to apply for Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships for the academic year 2026–2027, with an anticipated start date in July 2026. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of one renewal.

The successful candidates will join the UWP at an ongoing moment of transformation. The program has recently launched a universal first-year writing requirement and is helping departments to integrate more writing into the majors, while also developing community-engaged writing classes as well as courses for graduate students and advanced undergraduates. The Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows will join a collaborative, creative faculty in the midst of crafting a new culture of writing at Hopkins.

Postdocs are responsible for 4 courses (1 prep) per year, either 2-2 or 1-3, depending on program needs, and perform service (primarily committee work). New fellows who have not yet participated in UWP’s Teaching Writing Workshop (TWW) will complete this training in the fall and teach 3 sections in the spring. As of July 1, 2025, the Krieger School set compensation for this 9-month position at $46,500 plus qualified benefits. This may be subject to change.
