Spring 2025 Internship at the Evergreen Museum

SPRING SEMESTER CURATORIAL STUDENT WORKER

Evergreen Museum & Library

PROJECT

This internship can be completed for pay at $15 per hour. The selected student will work for 5 hours per week primarily on site at Evergreen Museum & Library on a schedule to be arranged between the student and the Curator of Collections.

This spring semester, the curatorial intern will work closely with the Curator of Collections to conduct original research utilizing the John Work Garrett Papers and the Alice Warder Garrett Papers available at Johns Hopkins University Special Collections. This research, which will focus on John Work Garrett’s political career, will culminate in a research paper and presentation by the student focused around their research. The research paper will ultimately be used as part of Evergreen’s ongoing efforts to better contextualize the house’s history within world events.

Research will focus on John Work Garrett’s senatorial campaign and diplomatic career. Utilizing Garrett’s personal letters, the curatorial student worker will outline Garrett’s political platform and the goals that his administrations had for him as ambassador. Additional work may include determining key objects within the Evergreen collection relevant to Garrett’s career, cataloging photography in the Evergreen collection, and assisting the curator in routine duties around the museum.
