During the Spring 2015 semester, students in Elizabeth Maloney’s M&S course AS.389.275, explored how heritage areas and historic sites serve visitors through interpretation. After visiting local museums and historic sites, students partnered with staff from the Baltimore National Heritage Area and chose important buildings in downtown Baltimore that might be highlighted in signage or tours. Students then researched content, selected images, sourced documents, reviewed stories and created curatorial files on each location. Final projects included original, evocative interpretive material that will be used by staff at the Baltimore National Heritage Area’s Market Center Heritage trail.
