Francisco Pérez Marsilla is a PhD student in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. His current research traces the Haitian revolutionary spirit through Caribbean texts from the nineteen and twentieth century, looking at the interplay of literature and history. He is interested in decolonial theory and cultural studies. His articles have appeared in Modern Language Notes, Variaciones Borges, and elsewhere. Prior to Hopkins, he received an MA from Yale University, an MA from Northern Illinois University, and a BA from the University of Navarra.
