Tanavi Jagdale graduated with a PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from Johns Hopkins. Her dissertation examines the concept of “limbo” in works of Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier, in conjunction with novels of V. S. Naipaul and Salman Rushdie.
Prior to coming to Hopkins, Dr. Jagdale completed her MA in Economics from Fergusson College, Pune, and BA in Spanish from University of Pune, India. She taught Spanish for six years at Symbiosis Institute for Foreign and Indian Languages (SIFIL) and University of Pune and held leadership positions at SIFIL.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Jagdale is a trained Indian Classical vocalist. She has performed in several concerts and conducted workshops on Indian Classical music.
