Peter Roth Intern at the Paley Center for Media

During Summer 2023, I had an amazing opportunity to be a part of the second annual class of Peter Roth Interns at the Paley Center for Media, a program named after the Warner Brothers TV Executive at the former Museum of Radio and Television in Manhattan, New York. With the generosity of the Luke Kelly-Clyne Grant and the Life Design Lab, I spent six weeks in New York working at the museum alongside other film and media students while growing a deeper appreciation for television. The program fosters the next generation of diverse creatives through educational programs about the history of television, site visits across New York City, TV pitching workshops with Peter Roth, and inviting working writers and producers like Quinta Brunson (Abbot Elementary, ABC) and Courtney Kemp (Power, STARZ) to speak to our class. Being able to be face-to-face with powerful names in the industry and receive guidance and mentorship from these figures was an incredible privilege that I’ll always cherish as I move forward in my creative career. I couldn’t have enjoyed this experience without the support from FMS alumni and current FMS students and faculty.
