Graduate students in German Gargi Dargan and Lisa Schmitz presented papers at the 2024 NeMLA convention in Boston (March 7-10).

Dargan presented the paper “Wound within History: Suppressed Trauma in Amrita Pritam’s Pinjar and Ingeborg Bachmann’s Malina” in the seminar “Ecologies of Exile: Persecution, Marginalization, and Resistance in German-language Literature.”

Schmitz presented the paper “Dystopian Eco-fiction: Deceptive Nature and Superfluous Humans in Eckhart Nickel’s Hysteria (2018)” on the panel “Lands of Milk and Honey: Languages of Surplus (and Shortage) in the Natural World.”
