Ralph Hubbell is a translator of Turkish literature. His translations and other writings have appeared in the Sun Magazine, Words Without Borders, Los Angeles Review of Books, Tin House’s Lost & Found, Asymptote, and elsewhere. He has translated work by Melisa Kesmez, Muzaffer Kale, Nazlı Karabıyıkoğlu, Oğuz Atay and Peyami Safa. His first book-length translation, Oğuz Atay’s Waiting for the Fear, appeared with NYRB Classics in 2024; his translation of Peyami Safa’s 1929 novel The Ninth Surgical Ward will appear with Thousand Horseman Press in 2026.
