Brazil was one of the best decisions of my life! Beyond the great food, the cultural immersion, and the wonderful caipirinhas, I was able to become closer with those that I went on the trip with. Brazil has an inherently intimate, friendly, and honest social culture where people hug, talk, and are in each others’ spaces in the best possible way. Being there reaffirmed a little more of my communication style, given that in America the conversation, or “small talk,” is usually superficial and stiff. This closeness was something that I will never forget and will try to recreate in the spaces I’m welcomed into.
