Alyson Waters is a translator from French to English of over twenty-five books. A two-time recipient of the Florence Gould/French-American Foundation translation prize, she has also been awarded PEN and NEA grants. Her translation of Antoine Volodine’s The Monroe Girls will appear with Archipelago Books in 2026, and her translation of Yves Ravey’sTaormina with NYRB, also in 2026.  She has taught translation workshops at Yale, Columbia, and NYU, and was the managing editor of Yale French Studies for a very, very long time.
