Study abroad scholarships are available to students studying a language offered in CLE overseas during the academic year (fall, spring, and summer). A minimum of $1,000 will be awarded to individuals excelling in acquisition of the target language and demonstrating outstanding potential to maximize their language skills by studying abroad.

The scholarship is available for students who:

• Have studied at least one year (two terms) of a language offered in CLE (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Russian);
• Is in full-time student status at the time of the program abroad; graduating seniors are not eligible.
• Receive a strong letter of support and recommendation from the instructor(s) of the language at CLE.
• Have already been accepted to a study abroad program to continue study of the language in the 2026-2027 academic year (fall 26, spring 27 or summer 27) and must also have been approved by the Global Education Office.

The application and supporting documents should be submitted by email to [email protected] no later than:

• Fall 2026: Monday, August 3, 2026
• Spring 2027: Tuesday, December 1, 2026
• Summer 2027: Thursday, April 1, 2027

Awards will be made based on review of applications by the CLE director and language faculty.
