Workshop: Political Comedy & Entertainment – Saving or Stifling Democracy?

November 11 at 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm

The SNF Agora Institute hosts a community workshop with Dr. Amy Becker, Professor of Communication and Media at Loyola University Maryland, exploring the role of political entertainment in shaping civic engagement and democratic participation. This session examines whether political comedy fosters an informed citizenry or reinforces polarization, and how infotainment—from sitcoms to TikTok videos to podcasts—can bridge divides and engage traditionally less active audiences. The event will feature members of the 2025–2026 SNF Agora Visiting Fellows and include discussion on the intersection of media, democracy, and civic life.

In-person and virtual attendance options available.
