From the Borderlands to Baltimore Speaker Panel

The Chloe Center for the Critical Study of Racism, Immigration, and Colonialism is hosting “From the Borderlands to Baltimore: Meeting the Challenges for Migrants and Refugees Today” on Thursday, February 6, from 5pm to 7pm in Hodson 110. There will be discussions on the impact of the new presidential administration on immigrant communities and the challenges that may arise. It will also offer Hopkins students opportunities to engage in immigration-justice efforts and build solidarity from the Borderlands to Baltimore. A reception will follow to celebrate the launch of the Critical Diaspora Studies major.
Speakers will include Susana Gastelum of SAMU First Response, Yandeldis Boullon of Esperanza Center Health Services, and Fatmata Barrie of Barrie Law Center. Moderators will be Julian Lim, Arthur Eisenberg, Susan Engel, Associate Professor of History, and the event organizer. Susana Gastelum, a former mentor from the Casa Alitas asylum seekers program, will share her extensive experience in public health and migration, providing valuable insights for Public Health majors.
