“Shot in the Arm” Movie Screening

October 16 at 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm

As the Public Health Studies Program celebrates 50 years of undergraduate public health at JHU, we are presenting a film screening and discussion of a documentary, Shot in the Arm at Shriver Hall, with support from the JHU Agora Institute and JHU Biomedical Engineering.

“Shot in the Arm” is a documentary released in 2023, by filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy (THE GARDEN, FOOD EVOLUTION) that explores vaccine hesitancy historically and in the context of our modern pandemic. The film features top public health officials–including Tony Fauci–as well as rare interviews with anti-vaccine activists. It discusses the complex and intertwined worlds of public health, vaccines, vaccine safety, and the search for truth.

After the film, filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy and subject matter experts will hold a discussion with the audience on how to avoid misinformation, the need for scientific literacy, how public health plays a role in disease outbreaks and more.

Snacks will be provided.

Location: Shriver Hall Auditorium at 3400 N Charles St, Baltimore, Maryland 21218
